Thermal Engineering Micro projects
Second Year Mechanical Engineering " I " scheme, MSBTE
Dear students,
As you all know you have to work on micro project in I
Scheme of MSBTE. These are some topics listed for thermal
engineering of third semester mechanical engineering. Select any one topic in a
group of 3 students and work on it.
1. Prepare Power point presentation on
Boiler mountings and Accessories including videos.
...Prepare PPT and
give Presentation.
2. Dismantle one model of boiler mountings and
write report..
...Preferably dismantle pressure
gauge and mount all parts on board.
3.Prepare one model of boiler accessories.
...Prepare wooden model of
economiser
4.Prepare one model of condenser.
...preferably surface condenser
wooden model.
5.Prepare one model of boiler accessories.
...wooden model of air preheater or super
heater.
6.Prepare working model for gas laws.
...using plastic and other scarp try to make
piston cylinder arrangement and explain gas laws. take help of you
tube videos.
7.Prepare Power point presentation on Heat
exchangers including videos.
...Prepare PPT and give Presentation.
8.Prepare one model of Heat exchanger
... Make model
9.Prepare model of thermal power plant.
...Make model using scrap material
and show main components like boiler, turbine and condenser.
10. Collect and analyze technical specification
of steam turbine and boiler from manufacturers website.
...Visit any website of boiler
manufacturer and collect the specification and prepare report.
11. Do the comparative study of conventional and
advanced cooling tower.
...Study cooling tower and prepare
comparative study report.
12.Group discussion on merits and demerits of
different condenser, boilers and turbine.
...Study in detail about topic and
perform group discussion in presence subject teacher.
13. Prepare charts on basic fundamental concept
of thermal engineering.
.. Make charts on basic concept
like Laws, definitions etc.
14. Prepare report on different types of coal
used in thermal power plant and how Calorific value is measured.
...Study the topic and prepare
report.
Start to work on your selected topic and report your progress to subject teacher on every Saturday.
Thank You
